The center of this dish depicts a garden with a lady, her attendant, and a man playing the qin, a type of lute. The scene may illustrate an episode from one of the many novels popular among ladies of the nobility at the time. The rim of the dish holds eight panels with auspicious symbols, including a lion, bird, fish, and crab.
